They reached out to me multiple times and I finally responded. During the initial call, instead of selling me on the role, they asked me what I knew about Pixlee and why I wanted to work there. They also couldn't answer basic questions about salary range and benefits/perks, saying HR would cover it later. This was surprising given they aren't a company like Google or FB where people are desperate to work there, so they should be more upfront to attract good talent.

This was the worst interview process I have ever encountered. The HR screener was clearly reading off a script and it was clear they had no real knowledge about the company despite seeming to work there. I spoke about something related to the CEO as part of my answer to a question and it was clear that they had no idea who the CEO even was. The screener was unable to answer simple questions like the team structure or what the role would encounter. All in all, it was a complete waste of my time and left me with a bad impression of the company if they will allow someone will no knowledge of what the role is, to be in charge of screening.

Pixlee's interview process is pretty detailed, giving you a good feel for the job, the company, and the people. It kicked off with an HR screening call. About a week later, I chatted with the Director of Customer Success. After that, I got a two-part assignment: writing an email for a customer problem and a brief for a short presentation. Once they liked my assignment and initial calls, I came in to meet the team. I had one-on-one chats and ate lunch with them. Since I was applying from NYC for an SF role, it was a longer process. Post-office interview, I met the CEO & Head of East Coast Sales for coffee to dive deeper into the role. About a week after, I got the offer and accepted. My tip: Be ready to talk to lots of different folks in the company. Also, brace yourself for many questions about you, why you're the best fit, and the value you add. Do your homework on the Pixlee site, blog, and case studies. Most importantly, you've got to be genuinely stoked to join, as they're an enthusiastic group passionate about improving the company.

It was a tough experience, more than I expected because I did both frontend and backend, but it felt fair. I messed up the backend part though. What I didn't like was that I asked for more details about the project and the HR person just ghosted me after I sent several emails. I had to submit my project, which I spent two days on, because I was on a deadline. Basically, if you're going to reject me, at least answer my questions about the interview task or just tell me you can't share more details.
