The interview process was incredibly slow with many red flags, like poor communication and extra rounds after being told the prior one was the "final round." It started in December and wrapped up at the end of March. It's super disappointing since the editorial team seemed really nice and smart. It feels like no one wants to make the hiring decision, so they just pass it to the next person. They're fine with ghosting candidates, which is a bummer for a company like PitchBook to be so unreliable. Honestly, I think I dodged a bullet.

The recruiter contacted me about a month after I applied. We set up a 30-minute standard phone chat. She was really friendly, asked typical questions, and then let me ask some questions. We talked about the company. A few days later, I got a small editing task, but without much detail on what they wanted or how it should be formatted, which was a bit confusing. I even had to buy an Adobe subscription for it. It was an interesting project though, and I felt good about submitting it. Unfortunately, about four days later, I got an email saying they were going with other candidates. It was a bummer because it seemed like a great job. Overall, the experience was good. They were nice, and I appreciated them following up. Seems like a great company.

The initial recruiter contact felt very scripted and unnatural, which made me think maybe junior employees shouldn't be tasked with interviewing senior candidates. The recruiter also struggled to provide specific details about the role. It's worth noting that everyone on the executive team, apart from HR, appears to be male.
