In my previous job, I was asked about my desired salary and marital status, in addition to some non-dissociative adjectives which I felt were out of context.

I got a call on Friday asking if I was still looking for a job. I said yes and they asked if I could come in on Monday after lunch. Since I'm a recent grad, I was really excited for any callback and agreed. The HR manager asked me about my major and my resume and experience. It went well and lasted over an hour. At the end, I got a verbal offer and had to fill out an application. He said he'd call with a start date after talking to the engineering manager. I sent a thank you email, followed up, and called the HR Manager and his assistant, but they completely ghosted me. It would've been easier to just be told they changed their minds. I was happy to accept their offer even though it was 30% below market rate. It was totally unprofessional.

The interviewer was half an hour late and clearly hadn't prepared. They asked me a couple of questions, and it quickly became obvious I was too inexperienced for them. The interviewer then started speaking in a condescending way, saying they wanted someone to train and implying I was resistant to learning. I tried to explain that even though I haven't been actively working in this field for almost a year, I'm passionate about it and eager to learn, especially with my degree. After about five minutes of unfair criticism, during which I couldn't get a word in, I stood up and left while they were still talking. It was my first truly terrible interview experience. Happy to say I won't be working at that run-down place.

  • What is stress, and what's the formula for it?
  • Are you open to learning new things?
