Technical Coding

I was interviewed by a group of five people for a developer role. Instead of looking at my portfolio, we did a whiteboard session. I had to hand write code from scratch without a computer or notes. It was okay at first, but got tough when we moved to more complex problems, as I'm used to using an editor like Eclipse.

Confirmed questions1 question
  • Asked to hand write code, which I mentioned wasn't my strong suit but I could do with the library available.

I applied on the Pioneer website for an internship. I heard about it from a coworker which I think helped. About a week later, I got an email for a phone interview. It was mainly about me and I had to explain technologies I used and what happened. After that, they emailed me to come in for a group interview. It was chill, the interviewers were nice Research Scientists. They asked about tech they use, mostly Microsoft stuff. It took about 2-3 weeks total, ending with a drug test and background check.

Got a heads-up on what to expect and the interview schedule beforehand, which was super helpful for getting ready. Everyone I talked to was cool, paid attention, and asked stuff that actually mattered for the job. The whole thing felt put together, with each part focusing on something different—technical skills, how I act, and what I know about the field.
