Weird interview. A recruiter reached out to me to tell me they had an urgent opening. During one of the calls, the hiring manager said that this was going to be a long process as they had many candidates. The interviewers seemed disengaged, like they were forced to be there. I doubt they knew about the interview beforehand, probably got added last minute. I'm kind of glad they took so long to make their decision. After the interview, I realized this team was not the right fit for me. I have friends at PIMCO and they love it. I will do more research before applying to positions like this one.

The first phone interview seemed to go well. After that, I was given a timed Excel exam that focused on portfolio compliance. I was told that if I did well on the exam, I'd proceed. However, I didn't hear back for two weeks, so I followed up. The recruiter then emailed, apologizing for the delay and asking if I was still interested. I confirmed my interest and inquired about the next steps. After several more weeks of no response and subsequent follow-ups, I finally reached an assistant who informed me they had moved forward with another candidate. I felt this was a poor way to handle the process, especially since I was already partway through.
