First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PIMCO.

Applied in December. First, there was a Hirevue with a mix of behavioural and technical questions. After that, I had a Superday which consisted of 4 interviews, each 30 minutes long, spread over 2 days. I was asked most questions about fixed income, behavioural questions, and a couple of brainteasers in the last round.
- Are duration changes always linear?
- What is a CDS?
Analyst
I had four interviews back-to-back, each lasting 30 minutes. Two of these were with people from the Special Sits team, and the other two were with people from the Alts Asset Management team. It went pretty well overall, and the interviewers were nice, except for one senior VP who was on his phone the entire time during my interview.
- Which emerging markets are you most interested in?
- What aspects of credit markets do you find compelling?
- Can you list the Excel commands you rely on most frequently?
Analyst
The interview process included a technical interview focusing on fixed income theory. They also wanted to know my motivations for joining the firm, the specific role, and my interest in fixed income. Later, I had a meeting with senior management that covered market views, investment strategies, and general fit.
