First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pierce County Library System.
Community Outreach Coordinator
The interview lasted for an hour and they were nice enough to send over the questions beforehand. It was a really good and informative chat, definitely one of the best interviews I've had. Even though I didn't get the job, I really liked meeting the team and talking about what they're trying to achieve.
- Can you share an example of a time at work when you used trauma-informed approaches?
Customer Experience Clerk
They'll ask you 10 questions, and for each answer, you gotta make sure it aligns with the 9 core skills and qualities. After you're done, HR/SE should get back to you about a week and a half after the interview.
- Tell me about a situation where an employee or customer asked you something you didn't know. What did you do, and what happened in the end?
Customer Experience Clerk
Interview was conducted via MS Teams. Initially, I was asked to confirm a date and time from a list, with a note that Zoom could be used if MS Teams wasn't available. I requested Zoom, but they sent an MS Teams link. I ended up downloading MS Teams. The interview went well, although the questions seemed a bit advanced for an entry-level customer service role, but manageable given my prior experience. Two of the three interviewers seemed disengaged. I had time for questions, and they promised a response by the end of next week, regardless of the outcome. I followed up multiple times via email and phone over a month later, but never received any feedback.
- How would you handle a situation where a patron is upset about the number of unhoused individuals in the library?
- Describe an instance where you had to resolve an issue caused by a teammate.
Page Substitute
I had an interview with two Assistant Branch Supervisors who were on a panel. The questions they asked were clear and to the point. They were friendly and seemed really into interviewing me. They knew a lot about the job and were able to answer all my questions at the end. I got the offer about a week after the interview.
- What drives you?
