Software Engineer
The interview process at Pie can be a bit selective. It started with a really helpful and welcoming recruiter call where they clearly explained everything. Then, the second round is with a technical manager (not necessarily the hiring manager). This is a 45-minute interview where you'll answer seven questions. The catch is, if this manager isn't impressed with your answers, you're out, no matter your experience or skills. My suggestion for Pie is to maybe have more than one person in that second round, or at least include the hiring manager. It's tough to judge someone with years of experience in just 45 minutes, and sometimes personalities just don't click.

Senior Software Engineer
A recruiter reached out to me about roles, but I wasn't looking then. Months later, I contacted them. They were interested, so I moved to a technical screen, about an hour, covering behavioral and a coding task. I got feedback and was invited to the final interviews, spread over two days: backend, cross-team, frontend, and system design. The backend was 15 mins behavioral, then a bug-fixing coding assessment. I didn't fully finish the code. The cross-team interview was all behavioral, focusing on teamwork and handling situations. The frontend coding involved 10-15 mins behavioral, then building a React UI. The system design had 10-15 mins behavioral, then designing a system with endpoints and discussing user experience. All interviews left time for my questions, and the STAR method was good for behavioral questions. It was a fair process.
- Can you share an instance where...
- Tell me about a time you had to find and fix a bug in the code.
- What's your strategy for writing unit tests?
Integration Developer
First I had an interview with HR, then a senior employee interviewed me. I never heard back after that, even though I thought the interview went great and I answered all the questions right. It’s been 3 weeks since I last talked to them and I still haven’t gotten any feedback.
- Can you describe integration architecture within the context of Workato?
