The interview experience was pretty standard. It felt like they cared more about theoretical knowledge than practical skills for the actual job. I was asked about JS reactivity, the event loop, and Big O notation. I talked about data structures like hash tables, linked lists, and trees. They seemed a bit surprised and threw in some unexpected questions, like asking me to explain how the JavaScript event loop works and how garbage collection functions. I also explained how to update indexedDB. I got rejected because I admitted I wasn't super deep into garbage collection details, although I did try to explain my idea about dependency graphs for unloading functions. They disagreed, saying it's more about tracking references, not just call counts. Apparently, the main reason for rejection was that they wanted someone with a deeper JavaScript understanding than I showed, even though I've been using it professionally for nine years. One interviewer was also surprised when I mentioned other WebGL formats like .glb and .gltf, acting like I was making them up.

Technical Coding Case

The interview process for this role in Berlin was not very transparent. After an initial HR interview, I was given a take-home test that took me about three days to complete. A few days later, I received a rejection email stating that I had made mistakes in the SQL queries in the first part of the task. I was confident my queries were correct, so I asked for clarification on where I went wrong. They then mentioned that the second part, which involved analysis and was not query-based, was good, but I didn't cover all aspects. I emailed again asking for more details about the rejection reason and specific mistakes, but received no response. I felt my time was not valued.

Confirmed questions2 questions
  • First part involved writing SQL queries.
  • Second part was an analysis task.

I went through a 3-step interview process: first with HR, then the hiring manager, and finally the marketing director. The interviews themselves seemed to go well. My hiring manager interview was particularly encouraging; they seemed really impressed and even discussed potential role adjustments given my 3-month notice period. I was expecting positive news after all this, but then... nothing. It's been two months since that interview and I haven't heard back from HR at all. I've since accepted another position, but being ghosted like this feels really unprofessional, especially from a company that emphasizes mental health. It's unacceptable and frankly, it makes me wonder how they treat their employees. I hope others don't have this experience.
