First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Phunware.
Software Developer
Pretty dishonest. Everything was said as excellent to the end, they ended up emailing plain disapproval though. I'm personally an advocate of straightforward speech, and constructive criticism. It felt to me like they were trying to fool people. I have very good feelings from other interviews in my career when I did not get the job, but they became perfect guidelines from feedback.
- Can you tell me what you know about our company?
- Could you elaborate on your past experiences in these specific areas?
Software Developer
Applied through LinkedIn, got a call the next day from a software development manager for an initial phone interview. He went over my background and experience. Then, a Skype video call with an engineer, covering education, technical background, and questions on testing, cache, memory management, and software design. Since I'm stronger in iOS, I received a 2-day homework task for iOS and was asked for sample code. They didn't like my implementation for the homework, citing concerns about my decisions in the code.
- When would you opt for a linked list instead of an Array?
Senior Software Engineer
Had a quick phone call to check my background, interest, personality and if I was available. Then had a technical interview over Skype video. After that, I had a spike interview with two managers, two developers, and the CTO.
- What were the technical questions related to the platform you were expected to develop for?
