First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Photon.
Senior UI-UX Designer
It was a pretty quick process. I had an initial 30 minute phone screening with a recruiter who reached out to me, the basic questions were asked. Then I had a 30 minute video call with the hiring manager where I walked through one project. The whole process took about a week, and everyone was friendly. I ended up rejecting the offer (mostly) because of the Glassdoor reviews for the company.
- Can you tell me about one of your projects or case studies?
User Experience Designer
I was initially contacted by an internal recruiter about opportunities in either Houston or Seattle. A brief initial screening was then set up. During the screening, the design manager seemed unfamiliar with both projects and didn't ask any in-depth design questions, nor could they answer my follow-up questions. When I followed up the next day, the internal recruiter shared the design manager's negative write-up of me, which contained insults about my skills and experience. This was one of the most unprofessional experiences in my job search, despite my extensive experience with recruiters.

UX Designer
First, there was a recruiter call that basically went over the role and the interview process. After that, I had a chat with a Photon designer. This second interview was pretty chill and casual. The third step involved talking with the client. It went pretty well, but there was a misunderstanding about what I thought I was interviewing for and what the client expected. Photon admitted it was their mistake, and they gave me another chance.
- What do you consider your greatest strength in UX?
