First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Photon.
Senior Android Developer
We had two rounds, one was a technical screening round and one was a technical round with the client. After the second, I was told it was cleared, but then there was no further communication. The first round was handled by the recruiter, who gave two coding questions that I had to code and send in the chat (the questions were easy). The second round was an Android discussion round with the client (questions covered MVVM, Retrofit, API calls, ViewModel, etc.).
- Tell me about how ViewModel survives configuration changes.
- What's the difference between LiveData and StateFlow?
- Can you answer some Compose questions?
Android Engineer
I wasted my time and effort with Photon. I went through two technical rounds and two HR rounds, and we even discussed salary. They promised an offer but never sent it, making the whole thing feel like a waste of time. I tried reaching out to the HR team, but got no response. A few HR people talked to me during the process, but then they also stopped responding. It was a really disappointing and unprofessional experience. Honestly, a quick reply or just an acknowledgement would have been nice, especially after I put in all that time.
- Regarding Jetpack Compose, can you explain how you manage asynchronous operations?
- How do you maintain data consistency across different sections of your Kotlin app?
- Tell me about handling asynchronous operations and ensuring data consistency in Kotlin applications, especially with Jetpack Compose.
