First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Philip Morris International.
Manager
The interview process was a bit all over the place, with things changing as we went along. There was an online test given on short notice that didn't seem to really matter in the end. It also took a long time to get replies, and the job requirements kept shifting throughout the process.
- Why are you interested in this role?
- What is your experience with the policy area relevant to this position?
Quality Manager
I had a couple of virtual interviews with HR and the hiring manager, then an on-site case study presentation. The initial interviews were standard, focusing on my experience and skills. The case study was tailored to the role's purpose. It was supposed to be a 20-minute presentation followed by 40 minutes of questions, but it ended up being a full hour of mixed presentation and questions. The interviewers were great and professional, and I didn't feel any stress. Even though I wasn't selected, HR gave me good feedback.
- Can you present a case study on implementing a new QMS in a realistic scenario?
Management Trainee
So, it started with a CV screening, if you pass that, then you get a phone interview. It's pretty standard, they'll ask you what you know about PMI and why you want to join. You can also ask them stuff here. Then there's a half-day thing that's kind of like an orientation and interview. You'll hear from current management trainees about the job, and then you'll have a casual 1-on-1 chat to get to know you better. They might ask your opinion on the company or issues like smoking. If you get through that, there's an online assessment with three parts: a numerical test (simple math), a logical reasoning test (like an IQ quiz, predicting patterns), and a reading comprehension test (understanding a paragraph and words in it). Passing this means you're onto the final stage: a case study presentation. You'll be given a scenario and three possible solutions, and you have to choose one and present it with reasons to a panel. The scenarios aren't specific to PMI's business, they're more general. They'll also throw in some regular interview questions during this case study part. After this, you'll know if you got the job.
- The hardest part was the online assessment; it was timed, and some questions were tricky and hard to figure out.
