& Process

The interview process started with a phone screen, then a take-home assessment quiz, and finally an in-person panel interview with three other IT staff members. It took about 8 weeks from application to the initial phone screen, which I mentioned as a concern regarding their timeline. My overall experience from that point on confirmed my worry. One panel interviewer seemed very uninterested, actually rolling her eyes, and the job was posted again soon after my interview. It wasn't a great experience.

I had a great experience interviewing for the PMA Museum Studies Internship Program. Since I wasn't able to attend an in-person interview, I spoke with one of the internship coordinators over Skype. The interview mostly focused on an overview of the program (highly recommend) and my experience working at museums. They were very open and willing to answer my questions about the organization. I heard back with an offer quickly and was given an appropriate amount of time to accept. I had such a positive experience interviewing at the PMA that I decided to turn down other opportunities without hearing if I received an offer.

There were two rounds of interviews conducted via zoom with different team members. After the interviews, I didn't receive any updates or hear back, and my follow-up emails about the timeline/next steps also went unanswered. It felt unprofessional, especially since it's not a small company. You'd think their HR or hiring manager could manage candidate communication post-interview.

Everyone was very nice, clear, and professional. There was clear communication about timeline and next steps. Some of the questions were not consistent to the job description. The process was long despite them wanting to hire someone. The HR staff was very pleasant, open, and extremely helpful in answering in questions before and after the interview.
