It started with a recruiter screen, then a sales ops screen, followed by the hiring manager screen, and then a VP screen. The process concluded with a final presentation. However, the hiring manager might not get back to the recruiter promptly or provide precise feedback. I was informed that my achievements weren't recent enough, even though a diligent hiring manager would have seen the opposite on my resume. This was incredibly disappointing and seemed like a major red flag. Apparently, meeting all quotas until 2023 isn't considered recent enough, given we're only 2.5 months into 2024. It really felt like a demonstration of not paying attention or even looking at the resume.

I had 4 calls with managers, plus the recruiter. I was really excited because my background fits the industry well. The recruiter was nice and connected me with the first hiring manager. However, the second interview with a manager was a total disaster. He was aggressive from the start, making rude comments after everything I said, cutting me off before I could finish sentences. He didn't want to hear my questions and never gave straight answers. After that call, I almost didn't do the other two calls. This manager would have influence over the sales channel, and I could already tell the culture was toxic. The other two managers I spoke with were smart, open, and seemed genuine. After the bad experience, I checked Glassdoor and saw other people had the same issue. I knew I wouldn't take the job after only 2 minutes of that interview, but I'm glad I found out. They say it's a hunter role, not a farmer, and reps have to balance both, but there seem to be issues with current and past reps regarding their roles. I also saw firsthand how frustrating the company's technology is. I got over 40 emails in 4 days asking me to reschedule, a glitch in their system that wouldn't stop. The recruiter confirmed everything was fine, but I had to ignore the constant emails. I can imagine this is the kind of thing sales reps deal with, leading to angry customers. I could have lived with the faulty system, it'll probably get fixed, but the toxic behavior is much harder to fix.

So, my experience with Phenom People was kinda strange, especially given their industry and how they market themselves for personalized talent experiences. I applied twice, and the first time, I didn't even get an acknowledgement. So I reapplied a few weeks later. I had a phone interview, and then... nothing. I waited about a month before emailing the recruiter for an update, and I just got a short reply saying there was no progress. Three more weeks went by with no word, so I emailed again and was told they'd already hired someone. It's disappointing because I don't mind rejection, but making me wait and then having me chase you for an update is pretty frustrating. The whole thing, from the interview to the final communication, took two months. Honestly, it was a really negative candidate experience, which is ironic considering they talk about 'building relationships with talent'.
