Sales Manager
The Recruiter reached out to me for a direct interview with the Hiring Manager, skipping the usual screening. They offered a quick call to answer any initial questions, which they scheduled during a holiday. The Recruiter was nice and gave info, but some of it didn't match up with what the Hiring Manager said later. The interview with the Hiring Manager was tough. It felt like they were trying to find reasons not to hire me instead of seeing if I was a good fit. The interviewer seemed checked out and kind of indifferent. Even though I had the construction and sales team management experience they needed, the talk mostly focused on my recent work, especially not having formal team management lately, even though I was leading a team indirectly. I haven't heard back or gotten replies to my follow-up emails in the three weeks since the interview. So, I'm not expecting anything from this, and it looks like they have a lot of Regional Sales Manager roles open all at once.
- Have you managed a sales team in your most recent role?
Human Resources Generalist
Got a call from a recruiter to set up a phone chat, it was about 20 mins where we went over my background, the job, and what I'd expect pay-wise. A few days after that, they wanted me to come in for an in-person meeting. I met with two people from the HR team who told me about their jobs and then asked me to talk about my previous experience. After that, they asked me a bunch of questions about my past work.
- Can you elaborate on your previous work experiences in relation to this position?
- Tell me about your previous work experiences.
- Behavioral questions related to the role and your background were asked.
Technical Writer
Had a quick phone chat with HR, just basic questions to see if I was a good fit. Then, an in-person meeting with the team followed. It was a bit weird because the person who set it up didn't say who I'd meet, how long it would take, where to go, or what to bring. I emailed to ask, but no reply. When I arrived, she wasn't there, but the receptionist got the hiring manager. I didn't know I'd be meeting multiple people or that it would be a two-hour meeting, which included an hour-long tour of the place (wish I'd known, wouldn't have worn heels!). Because they didn't communicate well and, based on the questions, I don't think they really knew how to support this role, I just decided not to wait around. I told them I didn't think it was the right fit. Never heard back.
- Were you qualified for the role?
- What are your thoughts on this position?
