Teacher
I applied for a teaching position for the 2020-21 school year. After applying online, the school reached out within about a week. Since I wasn't living nearby, the interview was conducted via Zoom. I was surprised to see many people in the interview, which I hadn't been informed about. I was very nervous, but everyone was really kind and welcoming. Knowing it was for my first teaching job and that I wasn't answering perfectly, they made me feel better and listened patiently. It was a positive experience overall and helped me get my first teaching role.
- Can you describe your approach to teaching?
- What is your background and relevant experience?
- What motivates your interest in teaching this particular grade?
Teacher
This interview was pretty standard for districts around Austin. I got a call and then interviewed with a group of teachers and administrators. This included the team I might work with, the principal, an admin intern, and an instructional coach. They had a list of questions they stuck to, and couldn't really go off-script unless I asked something that wasn't covered.
- How do you view balanced literacy in a classroom setting?
Teacher
It was a great interview, though I think I got nervous. Three people were asking me questions about how I deal with problems involving kids, parents, and staff. I also had to talk about my methods for helping children with reading, math, and science. They also inquired about my lesson plans and what I expect from the Principal, my Supervisor, and the school.
- What are your expectations of the Principal?
