First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PetVet Care Centers.
Veterinarian
The interview was really short and nice. They asked me about my past experience and what I expected from the job, also about my academic credentials, and what my expected payment and hours were. I had a second interview with another person where we talked a bit more about productivity and numbers.
- What were your expectatives in the job.
DVM
It started with a phone interview because I wasn't local. Then, I had an in-person interview where I met with several staff members, and we also took a tour of the hospital. I was there for a few hours.
- Can you describe your experience with surgeries?
Manager
The interview was with the regional manager. Initially, it seemed like I would have autonomy over the hospital and my ideas would be valued. However, upon joining, the reality was different; we were expected to follow corporate directives. Furthermore, any ideas I proposed were claimed by the regional manager.
- How do I handle difficult situations?
Hospital Manager
I applied for the job and the regional manager emailed me the next day to set up a phone interview for the following week. The phone interview was quite basic and easy. The manager was actually hiring for two hospitals and asked me if I would be interested in a position at the other hospital if the first one got filled, and I said yes. After that, I was given an assessment to finish, which included math and verbal questions (the test is timed but you can log out to pause and then log back in as many times as needed), and a personality assessment. The week after, the regional manager contacted me for an on-site interview at one of the hospitals. The on-site interview wasn't hard and had many of the same questions from the phone call. At the end, she mentioned she'd forward my info for the final interview with upper management and someone from HR. One of the HR staff was on vacation, so I was told it might just be a manager interviewing me. I sent a thank-you email but got no reply, so I followed up on Wednesday the next week after not hearing anything. The regional manager finally emailed me back on Friday, saying I probably hadn't heard back because the HR person was out of town. It's been over a week since that contact and I still haven't received a response, so I'm guessing I was ghosted, which is disappointing. After two rounds of interviews and a really long, tough assessment, a simple 'thanks but no thanks' would've been appreciated. I suggest not wasting your time with this company because their complete lack of respect for candidates' time is a major red flag.
- Would you be comfortable working with veterinarians?
