Data Scientist
So, I had this interview with two people, one was pretty chill, the other was super interrogative. Then we talked salary, and there was this really awkward, long silence, and that was that. About 3 hours later, I got an email saying I was rejected. I actually asked about the salary range before the technical test, but they were super vague. Turns out, from friends who also work there as Data Scientists, my salary expectation was way over their budget, even though they had me fill out the HR form with my salary expectations. Total waste of time.
- Can you describe your current responsibilities at your present company?
Data Scientist
First up was a pre-interview case study for hotel management, where I had to analyze data, pull out business insights, and build machine learning models. Then, there was a technical interview with two PhDs covering data science fundamentals like probabilities, machine learning, and deep learning. Finally, I had a CBI assessment with the HR manager and Chief Data Scientist, focusing mostly on situational questions, no technical stuff.
- Can you explain the distinction between supervised and unsupervised learning approaches?
- What differentiates a list from a set in Python?
- Could you define Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA)?
Data Science Intern
The interview process did not involve technical questions. It mainly consisted of general questions, more like sharing knowledge about academic subjects taken. Candidates were also asked to demo their final year project and explain its purpose.
