& Process

The interview process had 3 stages. First, I spoke with the line manager. Then, there was a second meeting with the line manager where I had to present a PPT on a technical topic and answer questions. The last stage was with Human Resources. The atmosphere was friendly, and the questions were direct.

I applied for a job on their website and then got called in for a 2-hour onsite interview. I met with 2 software development managers. About 5 minutes in, one manager asked about my infrastructure development experience. I said no, but I had a lot of related experience. He said, 'Oh, you're an applications developer' and basically checked out. The other manager was cool and talkative. The interview was pretty chill and easy, no tough tech questions. But it was obvious to me that it wasn't going anywhere because of manager #1's reaction. My suggestion to PGS is to add a phone screen to save everyone time. I wasted half a day of vacation on this.

First, there was a skype interview, about 40-45 minutes, where they asked me about the company, some basic technical stuff, and HR questions. After that, I was invited to Weybridge for a 1-to-1 interview. This part had two sections: first, 30 minutes with HR where I was asked typical questions about my strengths, weaknesses, and goals (both short and long term). Then, there was an hour-long technical interview with managers where we discussed the main steps in data processing, like different techniques for removing multiples and types of migration, and also about PGS technologies, specifically geostreamer.

I applied in December after meeting them at my university, sending in my CV and cover letter. They were a bit delayed, so my campus interview wasn't until March. It was a panel interview with both technical and HR people. They asked me technical questions about seismic data acquisition and processing, and I had to show I understood it by looking at seismic sections. The HR questions were competency-based and fine. About 3 weeks later, I got invited for a final interview at their Weybridge office and they put me up in a hotel. It was a full day. We started with a more in-depth technical interview focusing on seismic processing and acquisition, plus the latest techniques. They also asked a few questions about my understanding of the job. Then, I got a tour of the place, and finally, they gave a short presentation on one of their key technologies, followed by a quick Q&A. About a week or so after that, I got an email saying I didn't quite meet their standards.
