Super easy, they just ask a few questions about why you are qualified. They want to know what animal you would be if you were one. They are really looking for people who care for the animals and want to find them homes.

It was a group interview and then a second interview after. The questions were pretty normal and the process was simple. It was straightforward questions to get to know me and me them. The second interview was more difficult than the first but not hard overall and was more in-depth on the role and its tasks.

Pet land made me jump through as many hoops as possible. They called me back fairly quickly after I gave them my application, however were not very flexible. I came into my first interview, not really knowing what to expect, and they threw me into a group interview, which was a waste of time. Everyone made it to the second interview.. pointless. After the first interview we were asked to memorize the mission statement and have that ready for the second interview. At the second interview I was taken back into a tiny office, where two managers interviewed me, very intimidating. They asked me to recite the mission statement, which I did, and then continued on to the basic interview questions. After this they escorted me out into the main part of the store and began quizzing me on the different dog breeds. After this, I was sent home and promised a call back within the next few days.

I applied through Indeed. When I got to the shop for my interview, it looked a bit messy. I arrived half an hour early and was seen within minutes. The interview was one-on-one with a manager in a small room that had a couple of dogs in cages, along with some printers and computers. It was okay, nothing terrible but definitely not a typical setting. I found out that a lot of the duties involved just helping other employees out when they needed it, which wasn't exactly what I had in mind, but it was fine. They were clearly short-staffed and had been for some time. The questions were general and open-ended, like 'What is your experience?'. When I tried to ask about the staff situation, they kind of dodged the question, which made me a bit uneasy. They said they'd let me know their decision, whether it was good or bad, by the end of the week (it was Tuesday then) because they dislike leaving people uncertain. I sent a thank-you message that same night, but I never heard back from them even three weeks later. I wouldn't have minded not getting the job, but it was annoying that they said they wouldn't leave anyone hanging, yet they did exactly that. Although, maybe it turned out to be a good thing.
