Candidate interview experiences
First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pet Food Express.
Sales Associate
It was straightforward. Showing your passion for pets and understanding pet ownership challenges and lifestyles will really make you stand out. You need to show you can be polite and keep a conversation going. The process was very structured and I always knew what the next steps were.
- Would you be okay with cleaning up after pets in the store?
Sales Associate
The interview process was a bit messy and awkward, but ultimately it was pretty easy. They seemed to hire people who were the most confident on the Zoom call because those individuals did most of the talking and took up the time. Some candidates didn't say anything the entire time and didn't answer any questions. It was totally unorganized because the interviewers asked open-ended questions that weren't really specific to anyone.
- Why would you be a good fit for this role?
Sales Associate
They were accommodating with scheduling, letting me come in before opening, which I appreciated as I was working another job. The interview environment felt comfortable, and the interviewers seemed to share my love for animals. The questions were straightforward, covering my unique selling points, relevant past experience, availability, and animal knowledge. The whole process was simple, involving two interviews, and I received a job offer a few days later.
- Tell me about a time you dealt with an angry customer and how you handled it.
