The interview process at Persona was extensive and involved about 6 rounds, including a take home assignment that took over 10 hours, and reference requests from my *current* employer. While the team I interacted with was professional, expectations changed mid-process regarding what references were accepted and what they wanted from candidates. Ultimately, I was not offered the role due to years of experience, a factor that was known from the very first interview.

The whole thing took about 3 weeks and was done virtually. First, there was an intro call with the hiring manager to chat about my background and learn about Persona and their product. Then, I had conversations with 3 other people, mostly focusing on behavior and giving me a chance to learn more about the company and its culture. The last stage involved 4 more chats, which included a portfolio review and a design challenge. Honestly, it was one of the most organized and enjoyable interview processes I've been through! It was super efficient, even with my tricky schedule, and I always knew what was coming next. What really made it stand out were the genuinely interesting conversations I had with folks across the company. Everyone was so friendly and had great energy. I really enjoyed every chat, and you could tell these people are passionate about their work and genuinely care about their colleagues!

So the interview process kicked off with a hiring manager screen, then a take-home test. After that, there was a virtual onsite that lasted about 3 hours and had 4 separate interviews. The onsite covered topics like how we'd handle cross-functional collaboration, prioritization and growth, included a teach and learn exercise, and also talked about culture. The whole process was pretty good, but honestly, I was pretty bummed out at the end. It's been a week since the onsite, and I hadn't heard anything. I only found out I wasn't moving forward after I asked for an update. It's disappointing because I went through the whole process, even doing the 3-hour onsite late at night due to the time difference, and didn't even get any feedback.

So I applied for this Workplace Experience Manager role and things looked great at first. The recruiter basically told me I was their top pick and an offer was coming, even over the holiday weekend. But then... crickets. My follow-ups were ignored. On July 8th, they finally called to say they’d gone with someone else. The recruiter gave me some weak reasons that didn't match what we talked about before. Instead of being straight up, they gave me excuses, which felt worse. They kept saying 'I'm just the messenger' when I asked for real answers. It was sloppy and dismissive, showing they didn't respect my time or want to be upfront. Leading someone on about an offer and then pulling the rug out with no honesty or explanation is really bad. It makes you wonder how the company treats people and handles hiring in general. People should get the truth, not just empty promises and excuses.
