The hiring process was pretty standard. They reviewed my resume and confirmed I met the qualifications. Then, I had a meeting with a Project Manager to discuss the responsibilities of the role should I get the job.

I just had to show up to the office for some paperwork, then I was sent for a drug test and a weld test. After that, there was an OSHA review, and then I was good to go to start working. They didn't do any written skills testing or consider my perfect attendance, how long I've worked for the company, my experience, or my abilities.

They test you on pipe stick and heliarc in 6G position, then a physical medical test, and written questions and a safety test at the safety council of Houston. You have to pass all of these to be hired, and then there are more tests once you're on the job, like fire watch and flagger.
