I recently interviewed for an internship at Perfect Day, a company known for its innovative approach to creating animal-free dairy products using precision fermentation. The interview process was structured, professional, and gave me a good insight.

I was contacted by one of their headhunters and submitted my resume. A few weeks later, they asked about my availability for a phone interview. The first interview was a half-hour phone call. Then, the second, third, and fourth interviews were back-to-back video conferences with two team members each. Within a month, the hiring manager had a final call to ask some last questions. I got an offer a week after that, all within a month. The headhunter was super helpful and communicative during the whole thing. It was the best hiring process I've ever gone through.

Started off with some confusing communication about who I'd be talking to. Ended up having two 1-on-1 phone calls, about an hour total. Then they set up a 3-hour panel with the team, scheduled between 12pm and 4pm. First was a 45-minute "seminar" I thought was about the company, especially since I had to sign an NDA for the panel. But when it started, the lead asked me to present my seminar. Turns out they forgot to email me the seminar details. I just presented an old project report to fill the time. They texted me later to confirm it wasn't my fault and they'd messed up the email. The rest of the interview went fine, though I knew my skills weren't a perfect match. I interviewed well though. After the panel, they emailed an apology and asked if I needed help writing thank you notes. They said to "sit tight as we will have feedback for you soon." It took them over two weeks (the whole process before that was 12 days) to say they "decided not to move forward with my candidacy." I'd already taken another job by then. Total waste of time.

Behavioral Technical Coding

I had a really bad time with this company after 5 rounds. They told me I was out because I asked about compensation before the first interview, which I think was an excuse or just bad organization. It felt like I was rejected for my skills, not for asking about pay. The rounds included a recruiter chat, a meeting with the hiring manager, a coding challenge, a technical review of that challenge, and a virtual onsite interview. On the plus side, the data challenge was interesting and the project seemed clear. But they didn't let me ask questions about the job, the interviewers were unfriendly, and the job itself sounded boring.
