Social Media Manager
I applied for the Social Media Manager job at Classmates / PeopleConnect, which they listed as hybrid with a salary between $122,100 and $159,200. After a few interview rounds, I got an offer. I tried to negotiate within the posted salary range and asked about the hybrid work details. Instead of discussing it, the recruiter found my email 'concerning' and pulled the offer, which was super shocking and unprofessional. They posted a salary range of $122,100 – $159,200, but when I got an offer at the lower end and tried to negotiate within that range, the recruiter called my request 'unreasonable' and wouldn't budge, which seems legally questionable because in Washington, it's illegal to post a range and then not offer within it. The job was advertised as hybrid, but when I asked for confirmation, they said they actually wanted someone in the office full-time within a year, which they never mentioned before. This feels like a bait-and-switch. They also rejected my simple request to push my start date by a week. When I asked about resources for their ambitious social media growth goals, they rescinded my offer instead of answering. This makes me think they weren't upfront about the role's expectations or didn't have the support needed. During the in-person panel interview, I had to do a project directly related to the job. I made a detailed social media strategy and brought a printout to present. At the end, when I asked for it back, the interviewer seemed surprised and hesitant, clearly wanting to keep it. It was weird that they expected me to give them a full social strategy for free without any guarantee of being hired. I was uncomfortable with them possibly using my work without paying me, and it made me doubt their integrity. Be careful what you share during interviews! The recruiter told me when they gave me the offer that I 'should be grateful' because they 'had a lot of people apply.' The recruiter's negotiation handling was really unprofessional, treating normal counteroffer discussions as a red flag instead of a standard part of hiring. So, if you're thinking about applying, watch out for misleading job postings and lack of transparency. Don't expect any negotiation, and the hybrid policy might not be what they say it is. I definitely wouldn't recommend them based on my experience.
- Could you prepare a comprehensive social media strategy outlining how you'd boost Classmates' social media presence?
Digital Media Buyer
Got a call from a recruiter first. Since I was referred, I was asked to answer some questions about how I'd set up a project or approach a problem. After sending those in, I had a video interview with the hiring manager. They weren't fully present and asked stuff I'd already written down. Then, totally unexpected, I was told I'd be interviewing three other people at the same time. The hiring manager dipped, and it was just me and three others. They were nice and clear about the job, but it was a bit of a shock. Got an offer about a week later.

Software Engineer
I had one phone interview and then 2 face to face interviews. The phone interview had behavioural questions and then a coding exercise. The in-person interviews had 5 technical rounds.
