First, there was a HireVue interview, then an interview with the HR Manager, followed by a panel interview with some HR employees. After that, I interviewed with the HR Director, then the General Manager of Longo Lexus, and finally the General Manager of Longo Toyota. The last step was a background check with Crosschq, where they contacted 5 references (3 peers and 2 former managers). This was all for an entry-level role paying $18.00 an hour.

Behavioral Technical

The first day involved several in-person interviews at the dealership with different managers who were assessing my personality and past work experience using typical questions. Following that, I had interviews with an HR manager and a company executive. The executive interview seemed unprepared, as they had a meeting scheduled during our interview time. What should have been a 90-minute interview ended up taking about three hours. I was told I'd hear back in three days about their decision. On the fourth day, I emailed for an update, but got no reply. After two weeks, I tried contacting them again with no response. Seeing the job listing reposted confirmed I wasn't selected. I felt ignored, especially since I had to drop my classes to be available on their requested flexible schedule.

Behavioral Technical Other

This was the best and worst interview experience I've ever had. Best because everyone I spoke with was incredibly nice and seemed super knowledgeable and great to collaborate with. Worst because the process felt disorganized and not fully transparent, with the goalposts constantly shifting. By the end, I'd gone through 7 interviews (and possibly more surprise ones), a reference check, a drug test, and a background check. While multiple interviews for culture fit make sense, this felt excessive. I got a contingent offer that was below my initial salary expectations, which I accepted. However, even after accepting, they wanted more interviews and the recruiting team kept saying they hadn't officially decided and were still considering a 'final' offer, unsure if they actually wanted me. It felt like I was being messed with. It's a shame because the people seem genuinely amazing, but their processes need improvement. The whole thing took 4 months, and likely would have been longer if I'd continued pursuing it.

First I got a call for a phone screening. It was a quick but detailed conversation with the person I'd report to. Then, I went in person to meet with my direct reports at the job's location. After that, I had another in-person meeting, this time with the General Manager for that location. Finally, I had an online interview via Skype with the HR Manager, who is in charge of the department.
