First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Pensacola State College.
Student Advisor
I applied online with a resume that I really tailored for the role. Got a call within a week to set up an on-campus interview. It was with a panel of 3 people: a Dean and 2 other Student Advisors. The interview went well! About a week later, I got called back for another on-campus interview. This time it was with 2 people, the Dean from the first interview and the Director for the department I'd be working in. That interview also went well. They checked my references around the end of the week of my second interview. Within the next week, they offered me the job, and I accepted. I started about a week after I formally accepted.
- Can you describe your experience working as part of a team?
- What specific role do you typically take on within a team setting?
- Tell me about times when teamwork didn't go as planned, like facing ethical issues or disagreements with teammates.
Faculty Member
I had an initial interview over the phone. Following that, I conducted a teaching demonstration for both faculty and students. Subsequently, I received and accepted a job offer. I've found the experience of working with students across all nursing programs to be very rewarding.
- Could you tell me about your strengths?
- Describe how you would manage a challenging situation involving a student.
Recruitment and Retention Specialist
About a month after I applied, I got a call for an interview. It was a panel interview with three people from the department. I felt really good with all of them, and they seemed to like me back. When I asked them questions, they were really open and seemed happy I was interested.
- Can you tell me about a weakness you have?
Instructor
We set up a Zoom meeting. The department head and assistant head were there, plus 3 other department members and someone from outside the department. They asked typical community college interview questions you might find with a quick search.
- What personal weakness do you have in a work setting?
