It was a really long process. You have to go through a written test, then an oral interview, a polygraph exam, a physical test, a psychological test, and finally a background investigation. This is the kind of career that you really have to want to be a part of. It's not just a job you do for a bit and then move on from. Being a Pennsylvania State Trooper is more than a job, it's a way of life.

it takes a few weeks from application to interview, then another couple weeks for a conditional offer. after about 6 weeks for the background check and fingerprinting, a final offer is made. the start date is a few weeks after that. during the first week, there's a lot of paperwork and getting an ID picture taken. the new employee orientation week at the Academy is really great.
