My interview had four parts - a phone screening, two chats with the digital manager and assistant manager, and then a chat with the head of Young Adult books. It was chill, we just chatted about our favorite books and why I liked this part of publishing. Then I had to do an assignment which I turned in right away. After that, I heard nothing. The assignment was an online article and I could see it was never opened. I followed up with HR a week later and they said the job was filled. It was a good experience until I found out my assignment wasn't even looked at. That kinda ruined it for me.

I had a video interview with the recruiter, and then another video interview with the hiring manager. I tried to follow up with my recruiter several times over three weeks, but I just kept getting the run around. It felt like they were just buying time so the hiring manager could keep processing other candidates. I get it if I'm not the right fit, but don't waste my time for weeks, especially when I'm being proactive and asking for updates.

It was great, very welcoming and informative. They gave a clear and concise explanation. It was a wonderful, exciting, friendly, and nice experience, and I felt understood. It's good to know, and I'd like another chance to speak with them again. Maybe they could move the testing part to the very end.
