I applied online and then HR called me about 1.5 weeks later to schedule an interview. It was an in-person interview with the hiring manager and an assistant. While waiting for other interviewees, I had to arrange books in the interview room, which I assume was some kind of personality/behavior test. They ask questions pretty fast, so you need to be quick with your answers. It seemed like they were hiring a lot of people around Dec-Jan, so they were probably trying to get many interviews done in one day. Don't try to make small talk or over-explain your answers.

I applied for the role and was asked to submit my salary expectations and current salary on the application form. There was no salary range or information provided at all. Based on reviews from other people about the Penguin Group on Glassdoor, it seems like their salaries are very low compared to the industry, which I suspect was the main reason. I didn't hear back after my application except to say that I was unsuccessful. I would have really appreciated some feedback, as I think my salary expectations were much higher than they were willing to offer. But if they had been upfront about that, I wouldn't have applied and wasted my time and theirs.
