First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Peloton Interactive.
Site Reliability Engineer
I was referred to the company by a friend, and shortly after, a Peloton recruiter reached out via LinkedIn for an application. A few weeks passed with no response, so I tried contacting the recruiter directly through InMail, but they never replied, even though they saw the message. The recruitment process felt immature and questionable.
- Are you interested in applying for this role?
Site Reliability Engineer
First, there was an HR call. Then, I had to debug a k8 deployment, which was pretty easy and done in 15 minutes. After that, I had to debug a Docker container and do a simple coding exercise. Then came the personality and work experience questions. Finally, there was a System Design interview, mostly Q&A. I mostly enjoyed the process and met cool people and the company seems great. My only issue was with the system design interview; some questions about multi-cluster and very specific scenarios I hadn't encountered. I wish those kinds of questions were asked earlier to save time. The questions were like, 'what program/method did you use to solve x', for example, what did you do for CI/CD, and if you said anything other than Argo, you probably got it wrong.
- How would you go about securing a Kubernetes application?
- What approach would you take for a workload that's very resource intensive but only used sporadically?
- How would you test a cluster upgrade, specifically during a blue/green cluster upgrade scenario?
Senior Site Reliability Engineer
I went through several interviews. It began with a call from the recruiter. After that, I had four interviews with the hiring manager and some team folks. The interviews included a coding task, a system design discussion, an SRE troubleshooting scenario, and a culture fit interview.
- Can you draw out a system you have experience with and describe its various components and the resources it uses?
