A recruiter reached out to me about a contractor role. I first spoke with the recruiter, then had a phone screen with the hiring manager. After that, I had two more phone interviews with other people involved in the project. They then asked for references and contacted several people I provided, getting good feedback. The recruiter then called me with an offer. No onsite interviews were required; it was essentially a phone hire after four interviews and reference checks. There was some initial talk of a permanent position, but that didn't pan out, and I was let go after four months.

The interview process started with a phone interview with a director. After that, I had an in-person interview which involved 5 sessions of 45 minutes each with managers, colleagues, and a VP. During one of the colleague sessions, I was asked some puzzles. The other sessions involved discussions about my background. The questions asked were fair and relevant to the role. My suggestion is to thoroughly research the company and the position before you go in.
