I interviewed for a mid-level marketing position a few months back. It was a pretty extensive process with many interviews, including chats with my national team lead and the global head of marketing. I also had to prepare and present a task, which was quite a bit of work. Things went well until the final step, a 30-minute intense interview with the CEO. I was told beforehand that he'd ask unrelated questions, possibly to test how I handle pressure. None of the questions were relevant to my background or the job, and I wouldn't have even reported to him directly. The whole experience felt like an unnecessary display of power. I wonder why someone so accomplished would need to do that, or if he doesn't trust his senior management's judgment. This review might sound bitter, and it is – I could have easily done the job. I just don't get the point of that CEO interview stage.

The interview was like this: first a phone screen, then a tough 2-hour practical test that was timed, and then two 30-min Zoom interviews. The interviewers seemed kinda lost, asking me the same stuff and not really knowing what they wanted. They seemed distracted and rushed, so I didn't get to show my best. For the practical part, they'll send it to you, and you have two hours to finish it. Make sure you tell them exactly when you can do it. They didn't give me an offer or any feedback, just a generic 'we have decided not to progress with your application.' Honestly, I'm not even sure if they're hiring for this job based on what others have said.

It was a soft reachout after a job I had been approached for was filled. So this was more of a get-to-know-you. There were 2 steps - growth/expansion manager and then second round with founder.

So first I had a phone screen, it went well. Then I talked to someone else on the phone, that went well too. After that, I had a third phone interview, this one was more about my experience and it went well. Then, I met the team in person and they said it went well and they'd be in touch. A couple weeks went by and I heard nothing. They told me the managers were busy or on vacation and that's why things were delayed. They kept saying they'd follow up and that they liked me for the role. Still, weeks passed and no word. It's hard to get them to respond to emails, and when they do, it's like a month later. A company that doesn't keep its word needs to be called out on how they treat people. I won't be using their app anymore because of this. Too bad, they missed out on a good candidate and a regular user. Wouldn't recommend.
