Preparation is key. Expect 5-7 video interviews, which felt more like conversations. It started with a 15-minute recruiter phone call. The people were great, and the conversations were strong. Explaining the process sounds easy, but I fumbled it. So, be ready. Get familiar with the "Who" method for hiring. Know your competencies; this will help your prep. This company really cares about culture, so you must be a good fit. The whole process took about 2-3 weeks.
- What would your previous manager say about you?
- What is your weakness?
- What are your strengths?
Director
Had an initial phone screen that went well, and then a second round with the hiring manager the same day. Rescheduled that second round for the next week because of my schedule. The recruiter said I'd interview with the hiring manager, but it was actually with three people. They have a unique interviewing method that they assume you know about and don't explain. They'll ask for your current and previous managers' names and put that into your scorecard without telling you why. They call this their process for finding their "10s." They asked very specific questions about one 18-month job and mostly ignored my other 20+ years of experience (except for my bosses' names), which felt a bit off. But hey, it's their process, and since they have low turnover and only hire "10s," it must work for them. The process was very clinical, and while I appreciate professionalism, they didn't ask any personal questions, only "what would my boss say about me." It's unclear how they gauge cultural fit this way. As others have said, buy the book and try to understand their hiring method before the group interview. It didn't help me, but maybe it'll help you!
- Regarding your biggest strength, what would your boss from 8 years ago say it is?
- What would your boss of 3 months say is your biggest strength?
- Could you tell me the level of the team you managed when you first started managing them?
Director
Got an email to schedule a recruiter screening using their online tool. Got an immediate confirmation. The recruiter had to reschedule and gave me just a few hours notice, which was fine. During the call, I really didn't like the recruiter's tone and manner – felt like a sign I wouldn't be a good fit. She was polite, but in a robotic way, like she was reading from a script and couldn't deviate. It seemed like she was doing something else while I was talking, or maybe recording the call and not actually listening. She said the same thing after every answer I gave: 'thank you so much for sharing that.' Her questions were also really vague. The first one was 'Can you please tell me about your experience?' which made me feel like she hadn't even read my CV. What a waste of my time. I was really excited about the organization and thought it would be a good fit, so I wasn't disappointed to get the email saying they weren't moving forward with my application.
- Could you share your experience with me?
