Product Manager
A Pearson recruiter reached out on LinkedIn about an ECommerce Product Manager role. I applied and had an initial chat with the recruiter, who confirmed my background was a good fit. Then I interviewed with the Hiring Manager. During this interview, I realized the role and manager weren't a good fit due to the manager's dismissive and unprofessional behavior. He asked prepared questions but reacted rudely to my answers. He interrupted me when I tried to highlight my experience and then asked an irrelevant technical question. When I asked about what skills they look for in a PM, he responded by asking what a PM is. My question about team structure was answered curtly. Overall, it was a very unprofessional interview experience, confirming this wasn't a place I'd want to work.

Product Manager
A Product Manager was contacted by a recruiter about a job. After a positive initial interaction, the recruiter scheduled an interview without confirming availability. The candidate had three interviews with professionals and felt optimistic. When she followed up with the recruiter for next steps, the recruiter promised an update the next day but then went silent for over a week. The candidate sent emails and called, but received no response. Eventually, the candidate decided to withdraw from the process and move on, noting the recruiter's poor communication.
- Can you elaborate on your experience as a Product Manager?
- Could you describe specific situations you encountered in your Product Manager role?
Product Manager
My experience with Pearson's hiring process was good, and it felt well-organized. It kicked off with an HR screening call, followed by three interviews with the hiring team. Everyone was really polite and friendly, which helped me feel at ease. They asked about my previous work and how I handle various workplace situations. The questions themselves were pretty standard. Even though they ultimately went with another candidate, I'd still say Pearson seems like a good place to work and left a positive impression.
