I applied for the role of SEO lead in this company. I went through the very lengthy procedure of answering loads of questions and creating an in-depth video introducing myself. And then, after going through all this trouble, they didn't even take the time to let me know they didn't want to hire me. It's just radio silence.... just nothing... In my opinion, that's not how you treat people who go through a lot of effort to be seen or hired. The role is even still open on LinkedIn, so, I'm wondering if these job openings are even filled in at some point.

The whole thing was done online, which is super convenient if you like working remotely. It started with making and sending in a video where I mainly introduced myself and answered some basic questions, like why I picked them and what sparked my interest in the position.

Technical

The process was really unprofessional, communicating via WhatsApp and waiting days on end. I went through an unpaid trial and still wasn't given a valid reason why I didn't make the cut, more so waited an entire 3 weeks. They offer peanuts, I was really chasing the experience. Just cold and terrible also misleading. I worked my butt off and I get an automated response. Either way, I wasn't going to accept the post, $300 is terrible for what I anticipate would have been a lot of work. The trial was insane, the workload crazy and I wasn't even given any positive feedback, just critique which was about format not content or construction. They do a lot of fake :-) but no real human interaction was felt from such a presumed "progressive" business. On the flip side, I got great training and writing samples I can use for better prospects.

First, I had to fill out a really long form with repetitive questions. Then, I was asked to record a 5-minute video answering the same questions again. Over 2-3 weeks, their hiring team would text me randomly. Eventually, they told me that pay is often zero for months, and for me it would be around 30k, which is below minimum wage for an onsite job. It felt like they were exploiting talent by hiring people in Pakistan for very little money. Their company reviews seemed manipulated to hide a bad reputation. There were many red flags, including the owner who seems to have many unfinished projects. It was a waste of time dealing with their branding efforts rather than a real hiring process, which turned out to be a sham.
