I applied and talked to a recruiter. The first step was meeting the hiring manager, then a technical interview. I didn't get selected because my experience didn't match the required years/eng level. Later, the hiring manager reached out again and said my previous technical interview was good. I then had a virtual onsite over a couple of days. I was told the team would decide in a couple of days. I asked for feedback after a few days, and a senior recruiter was supposed to contact me. A week later, I got an email from a third party asking for feedback on the process, still no rejection/offer. The lack of communication felt disrespectful of my time.

The hiring folks were really nice and totally worked around my schedule. Everyone I met was clearly super bright. The whole thing felt really smooth from start to finish, and I got the offer in less than a month. There was this panel interview, which might be a bit much if you're not totally prepped.

I interviewed for this role in San Francisco, CA in August 2018. It was honestly a really bad experience. It started with an HR call, then a phone interview. After two weeks, I had my onsite interview. On the day of the onsite, I was given a list of interviewers and a schedule. They didn't ask about my experience at all. They seemed more focused on asking about groovy scripting and Jenkins setup. They didn't consider my background and cut the interview short. I had to take time off work for this and ended up being sent away early. I've interviewed with other companies, and some like Blend treat candidates well even if they don't perform. I'd go back to Blend, but not Pear. Save yourself the time and avoid this company, they don't seem to care about candidates.

The interview process started with a technical screening where I had to solve an algorithm. Then there was a virtual onsite that consisted of 8 interviews spread over 3 days, which felt like a lot compared to other companies that usually do it in one day. This setup took up more of my time. There were scheduling issues too; one interviewer didn't show up, and another cancelled. Rescheduling was a hassle because they kept asking me to provide 5 different time slots. The interviews themselves were okay, with some technical parts and some conversational ones. The conversations often ended early because they ran out of questions, and they didn't really turn into engaging discussions. Some interviewers asked the same questions repeatedly, and after I answered, they'd just ask if I had questions for them. The better conversations were with other engineers where we discussed technology. It seems like their interviewing department isn't well-organized.
