Engineering Manager
It started with a recruiter call for culture fit and initial approval. Then there were 3 remote calls with peers and the hiring manager, which was a thorough process with updates. The final round had only one other candidate and involved a great call with two senior members from the Portugal office. After that, though, nothing. No communication at all. I had to reach out to recruitment for feedback since it was clear I didn't get it after investing at least 6 hours. It was a poor ending to an otherwise decent process.
- Could you tell me about the size of the teams you've managed?
- Can you discuss software engineering principles, specifically as they apply to the OTT and Streaming industries?
Project Manager
I went through four interviews: one with the hiring manager, two with teammates, and one with a director. Each conversation was about 30 minutes, pretty conversational and corporate-style. I made it to the final round and really enjoyed talking to everyone. The recruiter was communicative during the process but then ghosted me after the last interview. I had to follow up three times before they finally told me, two weeks later, that I didn't get the job.
- As a person, what traits do you have that make you a good project manager, and what traits might get in the way?
Senior Software Engineer
First, there was a screening, then an initial technical screening. After that, we had an in-depth technical round where I had to do a 'whiteboard' style coding assessment to see how I handle problem-solving, coding, and communication under pressure. Finally, there was a behavioral interview.
- In Go, what is the execution order for defer statements?
Editor
The interview process was very organized, punctual, and smooth. Honestly, it was one of the best job interview experiences I've had. It was a bit lengthy for a freelance role, but the interviewers made it a great experience. Even though I didn't get the offer, we connected on LinkedIn, and I was satisfied with how it all went.
- What are your aspirations for the next five years?
