First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at PDX.
Software QA Engineer
I applied in February and had an online technical interview with a panel, where they asked typical QA questions. I didn't hear back until September when they messaged me for a final interview. However, the interview was cancelled at the scheduled time with no explanation. I was expecting a reschedule or notice via text or email, but got nothing. It seems like they might have found a better candidate at that moment, which is frustrating as it felt like a waste of my time.
- Can you describe your experience with typical QA questions?
- Tell us about your general QA experience.
- What is your experience with specific QA tools mentioned?
QA Intern
I sat down in the interviewer's office and they asked me about my side projects, organizations, and coursework. We talked about why I was interested in the QA role and not the Software Development role. They specifically asked what coursework I was taking and what languages/tools/software were being used in those classes. I also completed a unix worksheet.
- What makes you want to be a QA intern?
Java Developer
Applied online and had a straightforward and simple interview process. First, I got a call from HR for some typical HR questions. Then, a phone screen was scheduled. During the phone screen, the Hiring Manager shared company and role details and asked resume-specific questions about my past experience and expectations for the next role. After that, I was invited for an on-site interview. The on-site involved a one-hour written test with math, pattern, and database/XML questions. Finally, I interviewed with the Hiring Manager and his boss. They seemed very positive and made it feel like they were interviewing to hire me. The whole process felt simple and easy.
- Were there any unexpected questions asked?
Recruiting Director
The application process is straightforward and quick, taking under 5 minutes online. A recruiter reviews your resume, and if you're a good fit, they'll email to schedule a phone chat. If that goes well, your resume goes to the Hiring Manager. If they want to talk further, the recruiter will set up an in-person interview. Finally, the recruiter will get back to you with either a job offer or to let you know you're not moving forward.
- There were no unusual questions; the interview was quite open and involved a lot of discussion.
