Solution Analyst
I had a screening call with HR on Jan 31st, it went well and she said my resume would be sent to the hiring manager. Then I heard nothing for two months even though I followed up weekly, always being told the hiring manager was still reviewing. In early April, they asked if I was still interested, I said yes. The next week, my application was rejected with no feedback.
- What motivates your interest in this particular position?
Business Analyst
So I had this screening call with HR first. Then they sent over an assessment test. It was supposed to check if I was ready for the next interviews, but it was kinda weird because it only focused on SQL queries and didn't really cover all the skills for a Business Analyst. They didn't even ask me about SQL during the initial call, and it wasn't emphasized in the job description either. I met all the other job skill requirements, but because I didn't have SQL experience, the assessment disqualified me. It felt really unfair, especially since the first call didn't mention SQL at all. Basically, if you don't know SQL, even if you're a certified BA or Scrum Master, you're out.
- Did the interviewer ask you some behavioral questions?
VP of Engineering
The interview process felt really open and engaging. The company seemed really welcoming, and I liked the culture a lot. I got to meet with most of the leaders, and our meetings were constructive, focusing on objectives, challenges, and approach. It honestly felt more like doing work than being interviewed. Loved the experience.
- We discussed a real problem, exploring potential solutions, their tradeoffs, and the best approach.
- Could you elaborate on the objectives, challenges, and your proposed approach for this role?
- Tell me about how you would tackle a specific, real-world problem.
Project Manager
The interview process was pretty standard for a high-paying job. After the interviews, things got disappointing. It started with an HR screening call. Then, I spoke with a team member who went over the role, the types of projects they handle, and what's expected of a Senior Project Manager. Next, I had to do an exercise where I needed to create a project plan and a RAID log. Following that, I met with the hiring manager. He mentioned they'd have a decision by the end of Monday or Tuesday, depending on HR's workload. I didn't hear anything by Tuesday end-of-day. So, first thing Wednesday, I emailed the HR person who did the initial screening. No reply. First thing Thursday, I emailed the hiring manager to ask about the decision. It's been almost three weeks and I haven't heard back from anyone at the company. It's really disappointing, as I don't think the CEO would approve of this kind of leadership behavior.
- Can you explain how you handle situations where teammates, who don't report to you directly, have competing priorities?
