Tax Specialist
The whole interview process, from the initial recruiter call to the final chat, made me feel really good about my candidacy. The recruiter call focused on my skills, aspirations, and what I was looking for in a role, showing they wanted to find the best fit for me to grow. It felt really natural and relaxed, making it easy to have the kind of conversation most people hope for in an interview. I finished it feeling capable of tackling the challenge again, even if I didn't get the job.
- What's your approach to managing large projects when facing tight deadlines?
Tax Specialist
The whole hiring experience was really smooth, fast, and low-pressure! A recruiter reached out by email first, then we had a brief phone chat. After that, I got called in for an in-person interview with two senior folks from the tax team. It was pretty relaxed and didn't feel stressful at all. They asked about my skills, my last job in detail, and some typical behavioral stuff like how I deal with pressure, my biggest strengths and weaknesses, and why I moved on from my prior position. Pretty soon after, I got a conditional offer. The stuff after the offer was a background check, credit check, drug test, and checking my references. Once all that was clear, I got a welcome package with the contract and a few other forms to sign.
- Could you tell us about your biggest weakness and your greatest strength?
- Can you walk me through your last job role in detail?
- How do you think a manager would describe your overall work performance?
Tax Specialist
The interview process involved an online Excel test, an in-office test, and meetings with department managers. It seemed straightforward but was quite lengthy. Upon arrival, the recruiter seemed to ignore some of my input and mistakenly started my test under a different name. I finished the test, but they had me retake it because the scores were misattributed. Afterward, I had discussions with a couple of department managers. They were very direct about the demanding work hours, noting extensive mandatory overtime and periods where taking leave is impossible, especially highlighting the difficulty for those with children. I then met with another manager before heading home to consider everything. I received a job offer and was contacted about alternative opportunities, but struggled to reach my recruiter. I emailed to express my inability to commit to the intense workload and inquired about positions with less overtime, but received no response. It appears this opportunity was not the right fit.
