Recruiter
The entire process was kinda bad. A recruiter hit me up on LinkedIn. We set up a meeting, but I messed up and we had to reschedule for another week. Rescheduling with the recruiter was a whole ordeal. When we finally connected, I felt like the recruiter wasn't really paying attention and was just going through the motions. They talked about the job and the types of roles they recruit for. I thought my experience was a good fit, but I never heard back, not even a rejection.
- Can you tell me about the types of positions you've recruited for in the past?
Corporate Recruiter
I had a phone interview scheduled. It started off okay, but the recruiter seemed inexperienced and a bit condescending. We talked for about an hour. The last 10 minutes, she asked some standard HR questions. She asked if I had a college degree and if I got a 3.0 GPA or higher. I mentioned I graduated over 15 years ago and my GPA was probably close to a 3.0, but I'd need to check. The recruiter then said Paycom only hires people with a GPA of 3.0 or higher. I was surprised, but we continued. We reviewed my resume, and she brought up a time I was unemployed for 3 months during the great recession when my previous company went bankrupt. She then stated Paycom doesn't hire people who have been unemployed for more than 60 days. I told her that's something she should mention upfront, not after an hour of conversation. I thanked her for her time and ended the call.
- Have you ever recruited for a full stack developer?
Senior Recruiter
I applied online, then had a phone screen. After that, there was a Zoom panel interview, followed by a quick activity and an in-person interview. The recruiter or hiring manager got back to me within a day or two after each stage. Everyone I interacted with was really nice, approachable, and clear about things, and they didn't mind answering all my questions. The background check was quick and easy to complete, but still very thorough.
