Sales
Interview was pretty chill. Started with a single phone call, then moved on to about 2 or 3 video calls with some of the higher-ups. Kinda frustrating though, because after I accepted and had been working there for about 4 months, the job role actually changed, and it was a surprise to everyone on our team. We didn't really get much extra training to help us deal with the new situation.
- How do you handle objections and what is your experience in overcoming such scenarios?
Sales Representative
I had an initial HR screening, then I interviewed with two Managers and it went well. The final interview was with the Senior District Sales Manager. I emailed him to set up the final round, but he took about an hour to respond, making me wonder if he was too important to reply quickly. When I followed up, he responded instantly. He seemed to think he was too high-ranking to reply promptly. After the final interview, I got a standard rejection email. I asked the Senior Manager for feedback on how I could improve, but never heard back, reinforcing my impression of his inflated ego and poor communication.
- Could you describe your current sales process?
Sales Representative
Applied through Linkedin for a sales rep role, recruiter called super fast. He was really energetic and didn't seem to listen, just kept saying 'riiight right, yes oh wow uh-huh yeah! Grrreeat, hey listen...' He said I was his favorite candidate (lol) but there were 3 others. I told him upfront I don't want to do cold-calling or door-knocking, and if that was the main part of the job, I didn't want to waste his time. He assured me it wasn't, and that they get leads from online inquiries. Then, the hiring manager called the morning of the interview, and the recruiter said he confirmed with her that no cold-calling was involved. But when the interview started, she immediately asked if I knew it was an outside sales position with mostly cold-calling and business visits to get clients. So WTF. She said they made the job description vague on purpose to get more candidates. She admitted to bait and switch. I still did the interview, thinking I did well. The recruiter called after and said the hiring manager really liked me and would be in touch. Never heard back. Waste of time, recruiter and hiring manager were bad, bait and switch happened.
