First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Paychex.
Sales Executive
First, I had a recruiter call, then a call with the hiring manager. The hiring manager actually missed our scheduled interview, so I had to contact the recruiter to reschedule. The hiring manager was really unprofessional and disrespectful. They couldn't even explain the company's value proposition or what makes them stand out. They basically said that if you're tenacious and hustle, you'll succeed. I immediately told the recruiter that we don't need to move forward.

So the interview process was pretty standard but took about two months. It began with a recruiter phone screen, then interviews with the hiring manager and someone I think was the DM. I was open about interviewing elsewhere. Near the end, they asked what it would take for me to accept an offer, and I said a higher base salary. The manager said they'd check with their boss to try and get me $XX,XXX. After that, things went quiet. I followed up weekly with the recruiter for weeks, and each time they said, "We're still waiting on the DM—we want to give you the best offer possible." Then, after radio silence for weeks, I got an automated rejection saying they chose someone else. After two months, I expected a call, not an automated email. I guess that explains the high turnover.

First, I had an interview with the recruiter, then an interview with the team leader. After that, I interviewed with the team leader again, this time with my college representative. Finally, I received a job offer. It seems like each team leader interviews for their own team, so you get to know the person you'll be working with. They each have their own interviewing style. I interviewed with 2 departments.
