First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Paya.
Sales Associate
It was a nice and good interview experience. The questions were basic and not panicking, very easy to crack, no rocket science. The HR was very good, pay is good, and it's a good work environment.
- Could you tell me a little bit about yourself?
Vice President
The whole thing took over 3 months, with awkward gaps of silence while they tried to sync up. I eventually met the CEO, who dropped some pointed remarks about the hiring manager. After more weeks of radio silence, I learned the hiring manager was let go. The role I applied for vanished, and they decided to reorganize around business lines, which they admit creates silos. This probably explains the poor CEO ratings, and I can only imagine what their executive decision-making and strategy looks like given this opaque, uninspiring, 'take it or leave it' approach. It was a frustrating experience.
- I was asked a lot of questions over the 3+ months, but ultimately it didn't make a difference because the company changed direction.
Implementation Specialist
The interview process went on for three weeks, ultimately reaching the final round. It involved an initial conversation with HR, followed by meetings with the Hiring Manager and then the Team. I had to reach out to the recruiter for updates, but they were quick to respond.
- What are some common interview questions for jobs?
- What makes you want to work here?
- Can you tell me about yourself?
Talent Acquisition Partner
I initially spoke with the hiring manager, then had some separate conversations with different team members. The whole thing felt disorganized, and I wasn't sure who I'd be talking to next. The interviewers seemed unprepared, asking me general questions that I felt I had to drive. It also dragged on forever; just when I thought it was ending, they'd add another person for me to meet. When I asked about the company culture, it seemed like there wasn't much of one. After I spent time interviewing with six people, they completely ghosted me. I never heard anything back, no communication, not even an official rejection. Honestly, I was almost relieved because I was considering dropping out due to how disorganized their evaluation process felt, but still, ghosting candidates is a terrible way to operate.
- How do you source and build a talent pipeline for engineering roles?
- What strategies are effective for remaining competitive in a challenging talent market?
