I applied on LinkedIn and was contacted by HR to set up interviews. It was a smooth experience with two main stages: a manager interview and a panel interview. The time between these stages was short, and the whole process wrapped up in about three weeks.

The interview process involved a two-part phone interview. First, there were some general and theoretical questions, which felt more suited for a management role. It was a bit strange because the Director didn't even have my resume handy, so I guess that's why the questions were so random and not specific to my experience. Honestly, the management-style questions, the fact he didn't have my resume, and the company's bad customer reviews were pretty off-putting. The second part was the technical phone interview, which started with a question about OSI layers, specifically focusing on Layer 2.

The interview process was quite unusual. It started with a general phone interview with HR to check basic communication skills, which was fine. Following that, there was a personality test, and then the interview itself involved feedback that my personality wasn't a good fit. The CEO joined late and insisted on starting over, questioning a short tenure on my resume and asking completely irrelevant technical questions like "What is Ethernet?", "How many wires in CAT5 cable?", and "Define a WAN and a LAN". I didn't even get to ask my questions before being dismissed without a handshake. A thank you email was sent, but no response or rejection letter was received.

The company didn't seem to prioritize interviewing me properly, given their busy schedules. They appeared more interested in my fundraising abilities or my network in the venture capital world rather than my actual skill set. This was quite frustrating, but I didn't mention that a friend of mine was one of their previous investors. I decided to leave that out and have since moved on to a competitor. Interestingly, I'm now advising a company that plans to take over their poorly managed properties, and I'm confident it will succeed due to the competitor's sophistication and market standing.
