First-hand accounts from people who interviewed at Patterson-UTI Drilling.
Frac Engineer
The interview included a lot of personal and theoretical questions, like 'what would you do in this situation?'. There were two interviewers, and it was a great interview overall. I discussed my experience and how it would be relevant to the job.
- Tell me about a time you had a conflict with a coworker and how you handled it.
- Describe how you would respond in a particular scenario.
Data Governance Manager
Hi there, I hope you're doing well! Thanks for interviewing with us for the Data Governance Manager position. We really enjoyed learning about you. Unfortunately, the team decided to cancel this role opening because business priorities have shifted. However, we were very impressed with your qualifications and would like to keep your info for future roles that fit your skills. Please keep in touch and reach out if you see any other roles you're interested in. Thanks again for your time and interest in Patterson. Best wishes with your job search.
- Can you describe how you handle interactions with strong personalities?
HSE Advisor
The interview process started with an in-person meeting at a hiring event. On the same day, I had a second phone interview focusing on safety aspects. Less than a week later, HR arranged a third and final virtual meeting, which included me, several safety department members, and HR. The communication throughout was clear. Although I'd worked for Patterson previously, hired the old-fashioned way on a rig, this experience felt distinctly professional and aligned with expectations.
- Have you previously worked with Patterson UTI?
Business Development Manager
First, I submitted an application online. Then, I had a phone call with HR about my background. After that, I went for an in-person interview with the hiring manager where we talked about my industry experience and business development strategies. Next, a panel interview with senior team members happened, and we went deeper into strategic and relationship-building skills. Then, I presented a market entry strategy to executives, showing my strategic planning and communication skills. The last step was a cultural fit interview with a top executive.
- Can you describe your approach to dealing with rejection from a potential client?
