So, Patreon's interview for a sourcing role was pretty structured and gave good insights. We talked about sourcing strategies, did a live sourcing exercise, and went through stakeholder management scenarios. There were also questions on data integrity and compliance. The team was professional, and you def needed to prep well. All in all, a great experience.

Behavioral Technical

The interview process started with a phone screen, followed by a first round with the Hiring Manager. The subsequent stage involved stakeholder interviews, with four separate 30-minute sessions. While the initial phone screen and Hiring Manager interview were positive, interactive, and felt like a two-way conversation, the later stakeholder interviews raised some concerns. It seemed like HR provided very specific, almost rigid questions during these final rounds, where there was a perceived single correct answer. This was unlike the earlier stages, where questions felt competency-based and allowed for different perspectives and natural conversation flow. Two of the four stakeholder interviews felt like a rigid, one-way interrogation. The last interview, with Product and Engineering stakeholders, was particularly challenging as one interviewer dominated the conversation and struggled with asking clear, flowing questions. Oddly, I was asked about salary and negotiation by this stakeholder, a question I'd previously encountered from an HR professional who understood the variability of responses. During the brief 3 minutes allotted for questions at the end of this last interview, I inquired about how they foster inclusion, referencing a prior question I was asked. The interviewer who had been grilling me throughout struggled to articulate their approach to impactful inclusion efforts.

Behavioral Presentation

First, there was a call with the hiring manager. Then, a 3/4 hour onsite interview with 5 different interviewers. The recruiting team is organized and supportive, but one recruiter wasn't too friendly. They seem to really focus on diversity, maybe a bit too much. The company emphasizes its mission over a cool tech challenge. It's an SF startup with a cool mission, nice offices, and a clear idea of who they want. Patreon gave me feedback. Eli is a strong manager.
