Data Scientist
The process started with a recruiter call, then a technical SQL screen, followed by a behavioral interview with the hiring manager. After that, there were 4 onsite interviews covering Experimentation/Causal Inference, Statistics, Product Partnership, and Core Values. The recruiting team was really responsive and helped schedule around my availability. The onsite interviews felt pretty standard for a Data Scientist role, focusing on scenarios specific to Patreon that might come up on the job. The team seemed engaged and passionate.
- What are alternative ways to measure the impact of a product change when A/B testing is not feasible?
- Describe a situation where a colleague or teammate successfully persuaded you to change your perspective.
- Given a scenario where a key metric (Metric A) has declined by 10% over the past three months, outline your diagnostic approach to identify the underlying causes.
Data Scientist
I applied to the 'Scientist to Data Scientist' program and they sent me a data challenge. It was a recorded 5 min presentation on a data analysis notebook I did using any public dataset. I got rejected a week later with a generic email and no feedback.
- Can you record a 5-minute Loom video presenting your data analysis notebook?
Data Scientist
The recruiter and the whole onsite team were extremely rude, making it a waste of time. The PM for my product interview was passive aggressive, and the case study interviewers were condescending. I didn't have any issues with the hiring manager, though.
- Tell me about a product feature you contributed to releasing.
